Ohaiyo gozaimasu.
Good morning.
I've got alot to report on.
It's a beautiful, but super cold in Tokyo this morning.
I'm living in downtown Tokyo now and working in the Tokyo 2nd English Ward.
Our area is big and covers everything from here in Senzokuike to Shibuya.
I think Harijuku and Shinjuku-ku are in Tokyo 1st Ward, but it is
super cool being in the city.
My new companion's name is Sister Brumley. She is from Mississippi.
She's 21 and studied at BYU-ID before her mission. She has alot of
energy and is super genki.
It's strange proselyting in English. It's alot harder than I imagined.
It is mostly hard to find people that speak Enlgish...but we've
managed to find people. It definitely hurts more to get shut down by
people in English. We stopped a family from Canada the other day that
told us that they had investigated the church before. We asked them
how they felt, and they said "it was a mix between American ego and traditional christian
belief"...and then I heard a few swear words I haven't heard in a
while....It's been interesting.
All of our investigators here are so different from each
other. But I feel like at the same time, I can relate in some way to
each of the investigators. We have some SUPER intelligent investigators
right now. I've met alot of engineers recently.
Our ward is super interesting. Everyone is super rich. We had
our Christmas program this week because everyone goes out of town for
the holidays here. They are all going to the states and staying for a
week in Mexico or Hawaii...some of them are just going to chill in
Okinawa or Austrailia....you know...typical holiday traveling. They
are all huge business people. We had two new families in the ward this
week that were originally from the states but just moved here from
Beijing and Hong Kong. It is definitely different.
On Monday we went to this massive shrine in Narita and I bought a
waving Japanese cat. So that was fun.
It is weird that Christmas is coming up...doesn't really feel like it.
Feels more like it now because I'm living here in the city, but before it
wasn't like that.
I'm a little worried about losing the language, so we've been talking
to some Japanese people on the street still. I need to have at least 1
or 2 Japanese conversations a day.
It was a good week though and I'm pretty happy.
I love everyone and miss you alot.
Ai shite imasu.
