Haha (Mom) and Chi Chi (Dad),
I'm sorry if my last email was too confusing. It feels weird using English words to describe things at the MTC because I speak Japanese all the time.
I'm sorry about Mom's Avalon and Grandpa's truck. I'm realizing that sometimes we just have bad days. But if we have a good attitude when bad things happen, they don't seem like that big of a deal.
Dad I hope you have an awesome father's day! Know that I will be thinking of you even if you are having a bachelor's weekend.
I'm glad to hear Harris is getting his driver's license- but the thought of him behind the wheel of The Jimmer scares me....But then again, with his busy runescape schedule, maybe I'll be home before he get's his license.
Tell Bear to maybe write me?
When Dave gets home, I expect news from Scout Camp.
Also, Mia said "hi" to me in a lot of Dad's letters, so tell her hey for me.
As for the Nihongo, it's coming along. I've realized that this language takes time. For me...the MTC kind of feels like a vacation compared to Tech. I'm personally amazed at the effort I've made in such a short amount of time here. I sent you two letters this week...hopefully you get/got them. One was more spiritual and one was kind of a bio of my districto. If you haven't gotten them yet, I'll just say that I've gotten in touch with my spiritual side and my districto is a rowdy bunch. My favorite new saying is "yosh!" It means awesome in Japanese. My districto says it often. We call ourselves the Yoshi Districto. If you've read either of my letters, you know that there alot of downtime (kind of...its weird downtime) in the MTC. Theres alot of personal study time where we sit around in the classroom and goof off. I mean we are trying hard...but sometimes we find less that mature ways to entertain ourselves. Like yesterday we played go-fish with our hiragana flashcards. It's strange. In alot of ways I feel like I'm making a lot of spiritual progress, but in other ways I feel like I've gone back to highschool. Our sensei says that my districto has "alot of energy"...I think thats like saying we are the bad sunday school class. In addition to learning a lot of Nihongo in a short amount of time, I've also learned alot of pointless Nihongo slang.
My schedule here is pretty much wake up, Nihongo, eat, Nihongo, scriptures, Nihongo, eat, scriptures, gym, Nihongo, Scriptures, eat, Nihongo, Scriptures, Bed...with alot of praying in between. I'm pretty decent at praying (inori) in Nihongo but I struggle with my personal prayers because I can't express the desires of my heart like I want to. Oh on a funny note, In Nihongo, sciptures are called "seitan"...prounounced like Satan. Haha...so alot of times my districto is like "time to study Satan." It's kind of immature...but we get a laugh out of it.
So our books in Nihongo (trust me...we have plenty of them) are all named after a different pokemon. It kinda makes me feel like I'm back at Tech. My hiragana...well lets just say it is somewhere south of pathetic. I'm getting conjugations and grammar pretty good because of all the Spanish I took...but I stuggle with the pronunciation of stuff in Nihongo and I hate the characters.
Oh...tenki (the weather).... Besides my hair being perfect here. My skin gets really dry. I love getting up in the mornings and seeing the mountains in my window. This is such a cool place to live.
Oh and maybe in my next package...could you send some flip flops? The showers are super gross here and I'm worried about athletes foot. So yeah...those would be super yosh.
Hmmm...today was fun because I got to sleep in til 6:30. Bonzai! Today we are going to the temple.
The Provo temple isn't the prettiest to me on the outside, but I think the inside is really gorgeous. It is always sooooo crowded when I go on Saturdays. I've gained such a testimony of the power of prayer since I've been here.
We are getting a new investigator this week. His name is Shohei. During his bio video, he said that he lived at home with his Mom...Mochiron (of course) the chorotachi all start laughing and shouting out "Kimazooey!" Which means awkward. It was pretty funny. It's the little things like that...that make this place bearable and keep me going.
My akashi has strengthened so much in Morumon Sho lately. Mosiah is basically full of all sorts of inspiration for my life right now. Reading about awesome missionaries like Ammon and the words of King Benjamin...SUPER motivating. Anyways, ai shitte imas! (I love you!)
Love, Goose
By the way, I love getting letters everyday. They are Kine! Or gold in Nihongo.
